Holdfast presents: How to make Trash

The team had a terrific time today playing dress-up.  Instead of fairy princesses or cops and robbers, the theme was white trash.  Recently, we have been watching a lot of one of our favorite shows, Little Britain, which is streaming on netflix, and among our favorite characters of the many that David Williams and Matt Lucas portray, is Vicky Pollard, a "Chav" ...

Chav

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A chav (pronounced /ˈtʃæv/ (CHAV)) is a stereotype of certain people in the United Kingdom. Also known as a charver in Yorkshire and North East England[1] "chavs" are said to be aggressive teenagers, of working class background, who repeatedly engage in anti-social behaviour such as street drinking, drug abuse and rowdiness, or other forms of juvenile delinquency.[2]

In our neck of the woods - Central America - there are individuals who fit an almost identical description, and they are most commonly referred to as White Trash.
Now, here at Holdfast/Bellacozy, we are not prejudiced against social classes.  We've known tough times and people who get through them and currently, we ourselves being artists, are almost as poor as they come.  The difference I think comes from a basic sense of taste and judgment.  What we do have in abundance, however, are articles of ridiculous clothing when, combined, make up marvelous costumes.  Pictured below is our photo montage of what it takes to create the signature Chav look.  The main ingredients are track suits, cigarettes, excessive lip liner, door-knocker earrings - preferably of the bamboo variety - gold chains, sneakers, outrageous nails, and a devil may care, aggressive attitude.

It was a beautiful day outside, and we started off by simply painting our nails and enjoying the sunshine.  Holdfast's nails were specifically manicured, tipped and stickered to an outrageous extent, and the downward spiral into the ensuing photo shoot followed shortly after.

The over-the-top nails were what inspired the photo shoot to begin with, but as you can see they were quickly engulfed by every other element of the costume.

Both Holdfast and Bellacozy have dabbled a great deal in film making and production design, so I hope the mysterious splattered laundry registers as something gross, because it was prepared specifically for the shot.
